Denver officials will meet with executives of European airlines KLM and Lufthansa on the carriers' home turf next week in hopes of landing a second nonstop flight between the Mile High City and continental Europe.
Vicki Braunagel, DIA's co-manager, and Sally Covington, director of marketing, will visit KLM in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and be joined by Mayor John Hickenlooper in Frankfurt, Germany, for the meeting with Lufthansa.
Denver officials hope to add a second flight to continental Europe within two years, Covington said.
Officials would like to see KLM, acquired Tuesday by Air France, start an Amsterdam-Denver flight. They would like to see Lufthansa add a flight from Munich, Germany.
Lufthansa spokeswoman Jennifer Urbaniak confirmed Tuesday that the carrier is considering expanding its service from Germany to Denver.
