Und was bedeutet: Ab 1.

Italian Civil Aviation Authority issued a provisional operating license to Alitalia valid until March 1, both ENAC and AZ confirmed (ATWOnline, Sept. 30). The license is conditional on a monthly check of The carrier's economic and financial situation.

Compagnia Aerea Italiana, the consortium of investors negotiating a bid for Alitalia, reportedly walked out of talks with labor unions late Wednesday night, putting its bid for the failing flag carrier in doubt (ATWOnline, Oct. 30). It was scheduled to present its offer this evening. CAI head Roberto Colaninno said he was "very worried about the situation caused by the breakdown of negotiations" in a statement cited by press reports. He called new labor contracts "an essential condition" of CAI's rescue effort (ATWOnline, Oct. 3).

Four unions representing Alitalia pilots and cabin staff said they would undertake "all useful actions leading to the cancellation" of Compagnia Area Italiana's agreement to take over the ailing carrier (ATWOnline, Nov. 4), according to a statement cited by Agence France Presse. Other unions have agreed to terms with the new investors. "I hope good sense will prevail on the part of the pilots and flight attendants because there is no alternative," UIL union Secretary General Luigi Angeletti said on Italian television.
