A Munich-bound Thai International Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport this afternoon, following a failure in its pressurisation system. All 355 passengers on board flight TG-924 were safe but the aircraft’s wind-shield was damaged.
The pilot of the Boeing-747 contacted the Air Traffic Control officials around 1.22 p.m. and informed that the aircraft was having pressure failure and he intended to return to Bangkok.
Then for about 10 minutes the pilot went off the Very High Frequency Radio Telephony contact. But the ATC officials could see the aircraft’s movement on the radar, which showed that the pilot had gone about 20 nautical miles west of Kolkata, taken a turn and headed south-east. He was trying to return to Bangkok. Earlier, immediately after reporting to the ATC, the pilot, who was flying at 32,000 feet altitude, had made a mandatory descent to 10,000 feet.
After flying about 25 nautical miles south-east from Kolkata, the pilot again established contact with the ATC 10 minutes later and said he wanted to make an emergency landing at NSC Bose Airport and that the wind-shield of the aircraft was damaged. The ATC officials directed him to fly about 60 nautical miles south of Kolkata to dump fuel in the riverine area at the end of the Sunderbans because with full fuel, which is highly inflammable, emergency landing may be hazardous. After dumping fuel for about 25 minutes, the pilot made a safe landing under full emergency preparations at the airport at 2.30 p.m. After landing part of the wind-shield was found to be badly damaged. The passengers were later sent to a city hotel.
Earlier, the airlines authority procured temporary landing permits for the passengers and the crew . The aircraft has been kept at a parking bay

Gestern war's noch die HS-TGX.
Die haben die gestrigen abfliegenden Paxe und heute ankommenden Paxe einfach umgebucht z.B. auf Lufthansa und Thai in Frankfurt (dort sind ja die Thai-Maschinen oftmals menschenleer was ich so gehört habe). Und der für heute vorgesehene Jumbo ersetzte die defekte Maschine. Bei denen herrscht auch ein wenig Knappheit an geeigneten Fluggerät.

:yeah:Meine Schwester aus Frankfurt fliegt seit Jahren 1-2 pro Jahr mit THAI ab Frankfurt nach Bangkok und tlw. auch nochmals in eine andere Ecke in Südostasien. Aber immer wieder sind die Maschinen nur mäßig, also nur halbvoll gebucht. So ganz kann ich deine Aussage nicht ganz glauben. Und recht viel mehr als die PAX-Zahl aus München ist ohnehin nicht möglich, auch in Frankfurt.
Naja wenn die Deutsche Bank oder andere Finanzinstitutionen wertvolle Fracht mit Thai nach Bangkok nur ex FRA transportieren steigt natürlich der Yield.

Aaaalsooo, wenn ich mir die DeStatsis-Zahlen so anschu und die Anzahl der Flüge vergleiche und dann noch das größere Fluggerät in FRA in Betracht ziehe, dann dürfte MUC, was die Auslastung angeht, FRA nix nachstehen. Wie's mit'm Yield aussieht weiß ich natürlich nicht - aber billige Flüge ex MUC zu bekommen sind aus meiner Erfahrung schon eher 'ne Seltenheit.

The THAI flight on the Zurich-Bangkok route faced the technical problem when it was flying over the southwest of Germany, at 38,000 fleet above the sea level, according to an aviation control centre in Zurich, Switzerland.
The plane had to release 45 tonnes of fuel from the air to ease its weight, said the control centre.
It then flew back to the Zurich International Airport safely
All the crew and passengers on board were also safe.
Aviation officials said that the massive fuel released from the aircraft would not affect people and environment in the area.
The flight number of the plane was not available.
