JetBlue erwartet niedrigeren Gewinn im dritten Quartal

Die amerikanische Billigfluglinie JetBlue Airways Corp. erwartet für das dritte Quartal angesichts der Auswirkungen der beiden Wirbelstürme in den USA einen geringeren Gewinn als zunächst vorhergesagt.
Detaillierte Angaben bezüglich des Ergebnisses wollte der Konzern indessen nicht machen. CEO und Chairman David Neeleman erklärte in einer Pressemitteilung, dass die Billigfluglinie nach wie vor von einem profitablen dritten Quartal ausgeht. Der Gewinn dürfte dabei jedoch unterhalb der ursprünglichen Prognosen des Konzerns liegen.

Analysten gehen für das dritte Quartal von einem Gewinn von durchschnittlich 19 Cents je Aktie aus.
 
First Czech No-Frills Airline Adds Routes

The Czech Republic's first budget airline will offer new routes between the Czech capital and Dublin, Rome and Vienna, an official said Thursday.

The low-cost carrier Smart Wings, which started operations in May, already flies to Paris, Zurich, Madrid, Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

The company will start regular flights to Dublin and Rome on Oct. 1, and to Vienna on Oct. 22, spokeswoman Vladka Dufkova said.

The airline plans to add more aircraft to its fleet in the next few months and begin regular flights to London before the end of the year, she said.

Fare prices start at 990 koruna (US$37; euro31) one way, without taxes.

Other budget airlines flying to Prague include EasyJet, BMIBaby, Jet2, Germanwings and Flybe.
 
Jet2 have announced more expansion from LBA with their provisional schedule for Summer 2005 published with seats now on sale.

The main increases are:

NEW IBZ 5 x each week
AGP 'Malaga Shuttle' increases from 2 x daily to 3 x daily.
MJV continues as daily but will increase to have 2 flights on Sat and Sun
ALC increases from daily to 2 x daily
FAO increases from 4 x weekly to daily

Services to CDG commenced on 1st Sept and daily GVA flights start on 18 Dec. BFS-BCN commences this month as does an increase in frequency on BFS-PRG.
 
Smart Wings, the Czech Republic's first official budget airline, will launch flights to London's Gatwick airport Nov. 1, seeking to tap the boom in air travel between the U.K. and Prague, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Smart Wings will sell its cheapest one-way ticket to Gatwick for 990 koruna ($ 1=CZK25.8), excluding taxes, and will fly every day except Saturday.

Smart Wings, a unit of Czech private air charter company Travel Service AS, entered the no frills airline business May 1 when the Czech Republic joined the European Union.

The airline recently announced it would begin flights to Dublin, Rome and Vienna in October. The airline has so far operated two daily flights to Paris and Zurich, and one flight a day to Amsterdam, Madrid and Copenhagen.

An EUjet flight from Kent in England has made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport after experiencing difficulties with its nose wheel.

Jetzt kann man die Entscheidung der V-Bird ohne der EU-Jet F100 zu fliegen besser nachvollziehen. ;)
 
EASYJET ANNOUNCES FIRST ROUTES TO REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Additional services to Almeria and Valencia from Gatwick

easyJet announces today five new routes from London Gatwick to three new destinations in the Republic of Ireland as well as increased services to Almeria and Valencia in Spain.

The new Irish destinations - which are a first for easyJet - are to Cork, Knock and Shannon.

easyJet is also adding services to Valencia and Almeria in Spain from Gatwick. This brings to 29 the number of routes easyJet flies from Gatwick - more than from any of its other airports, including London Luton and Stansted.

Frequencies are as follows:

Cork twice daily
Knock daily
Shannon daily rising to twice daily in Summer 2005
Almeria daily
Valencia daily

Boeing 717 im Test
Die Eurowings-Gruppe wird im kommenden Winter zwei Boeing 717-200 der spanischen Aerolineas Baleares (AeBal) im Wetlease einsetzen. Die Flugzeuge kamen bislang für Spanair zum Einsatz, die ebenso wie Eurowings-Miteigentümerin Lufthansa zum Luftfahrtbündnis Star Alliance gehört. Die überraschend zur Flotte stoßenden 717-200, die jeweils 115 Fluggästen Platz bieten, sollen über einen Zeitraum von fünf Monaten nicht nur zusätzliche Kapazitäten bieten, sondern auch für den dauerhaften Einsatz bei Eurowings beziehungsweise Germanwings getestet werden.
Eurowings betreibt derzeit etwa zehn BAe 146-200 und -300, die aufgrund ihrer vier Triebwerke relativ teuer im Unterhalt sind und auf absehbare Zeit ersetzt werden müssen. Germanwings setzt Airbus A319 und A320 mit bis zu 150 Sitzplätzen ein und hat dem Vernehmen nach Interesse an einem Flugzeug mit etwas geringerer Kapazität, wobei die von Airbus angebotene A318 aufgrund ihres im Vergleich zur 717 höheren Gewichts mit höheren Gebühren belastet wäre.

BERLIN (Dow Jones-VWD)--Die Fluggesellschaften Air Berlin und Niki wollen im kommenden Jahr von Wien aus nach Russland fliegen. " Wir fliegen ja schon nach Warschau, Russland soll im nächsten Jahr dazu kommen", sagte Niki-Chef Niki Lauda dem in Berlin erscheinenden "Tagesspiegel" (Montagausgabe).
 
Qantas gründet bis Jahresende Billigflieger für Südostasien

SINGAPUR (Dow Jones-VWD)--Die Qantas Airways Ltd, Mascot, wird neben ihrer Tochter Jetstar eine zweite Billigfluglinie gründen. Jetstar Asia werde ihren Betrieb zum Jahresende aufnehmen, teilte Qantas am Mittwoch mit. Der neue Billigflieger soll Strecken im südostasiatischen Raum bedienen. Qantas hält 49% an Jetstar Asia, die restlichen 51% liegen in den Händen von Geschäsftleuten in Singapur, darunter die Staatsholding Temasek, die 19% der Anteile hält.
 
An announcement from Jet2.com today (29th September) is fantastic news for Manchester Airport. The no-frills airline, already established at Leeds Bradford and Belfast airports, is basing six dedicated Boeing 737s here that will initially serve nine European destinations at fares starting from £21.
Jet2.com will fly to Budapest, Faro, Geneva, Malaga, Murcia, Nice, Pisa, Valencia and Venice. The first flights will depart Manchester on 1st December to Budapest, the next day to Murcia, close to the world famous La Manga resort in Spain, followed on 18th December by flights to Geneva. Flights to Malaga commence in February, Faro, Nice, Valencia and Venice in March and Pisa in May.
 
Ryanair announces new European routes

Ryanair has announced seven new European routes from Milan and has added two new aircraft to its fleet at Milan Orio al Serio airport at a cost of $120m (97m),

The low-cost airline's new routes from Milan will connect to Oslo in Norway, Eindhoven in Holland, Valencia, Seville and Zaragoza in Spain and Liverpool and Newcastle in the UK.

In addition, Ryanair also announced its 22nd route from Frankfurt's Hahn airport to Klagenfurt in Austria.

Announcing the new routes in Milan today, Ryanairs Head of Marketing for Europe, Sinead Finn said: "We opened our first Italian base in Milan Orio al Serio in February 2003, and today we are significantly increasing the size of our base with two brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft and seven new routes, bringing a total investment by Ryanair at Milan to over $300m (243m).

Der TUI-Billigflieger Hapag-Lloyd Express (HLX) steuert Kreisen zufolge im nächsten Sommer vier neue Reiseziele an. Dazu gehören nach Angaben aus Branchenkreisen von Mittwoch Stockholm, Rijeka (Kroatien), Shannon (Irland) und ein weiteres Ziel in Nordeuropa. Der Sommerflugplan 2005 soll Ende der Woche freigeschaltet werden. Insgesamt fliegt HLX dann fast 30 Ziele an. In den vergangenen drei Monaten Juli bis September habe HLX den break even geschafft und operativ schwarze Zahlen geschrieben, hieß es./

The company will fly with modern Airbus 320 Aircraft. By next year additional planes will be added to serve our expanding network of destinations. Within the next two years it is expected to have a fleet of 18 aircraft. In 2005 there will be additional flights to Madrid, Barcelona and London City and the existing routes to London-Kent International and Odense, Denmark will be expanded.
In a second level expansion it is expected to add Seville (E), Lisbon (P), Strasbourg (F), Brussels (B) and Hamburg (D). All destinations will be served on a daily basis. Air Andalucia is also investigating the opportunity of flights to Mauritius, Kenya and South Africa.
 
Airline launches four new routes Oct 11 2004

EUROPE'S third-biggest low-cost airline, Flybe, will today announce it is launching four new routes out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The Daily Post understands that the Exeter-based carrier will launch its new services, to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast and Jersey, during the next few months.

Flybe is Europe's third biggest budget carrier behind Ryanair and Easyjet and last year carried more than 4m passengers.

It operates 42 routes from UK airports including Southampton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast and Jersey to 25 international destinations and 17 domestic destinations.

The company will hold a press conference at JLA at 10am this morning at which sales and marketing director Mike Rutter will give more details about frequency of routes and when they will begin. It will take the number of new routes launched out of JLA this year to 17 and the number of destinations available from the airport to 28.

28. Two weeks ago, Irish no-frills carrier Ryanair announced a new route to Milan to add to its existing routes to Dublin, Barcelona Girona and Rome.

Last month, Hungarian airline Wizz Air said it would fly to three destinations - Budapest, in Hungary, and Warsaw and Katowice, in Poland - from December while Air Wales said it would operate flights to Aberdeen and Cardiff.

Easyjet, Liverpool's biggest operator, took its total number of routes to 13 this year with new services to Berlin, Cologne and Basle while Aer Lingus announced a new service to Dublin.

In February, Belgian carrier VLM began flying five times a day to London City airport following the Daily Post's successful Fight for a Flight campaign which sought to restore Merseyside's air link with the capital.

VLM last week welcomed its 50,000th passenger with a bottle of champagne and said extra flights could be a possibility in the coming months.

Despite greater competition from Manchester Airport, which has only recently entered the low-cost market, JLA's success of recent years looks set to continue.

The airport handled more than 3m passengers last year for the first time and continued to break its own monthly records this year. It is on course to handle 4m passengers a year.

Rechnet man die gleiche Prozedur für den Zielflughafen im Ausland hinzu, kann ein Billigflug teurer werden als eine normale Linienverbindung von City zu City.

Frankfurt-Hahn, Hamburg-Lübeck oder ganz neu Düsseldorf-Weeze: die Namen der deutschen Ryanair-Flughäfen überbrücken im breiten Spagat oft 50 Kilometer und mehr zwischen Airport und Innenstadt. Zwar haben sich an allen Basen inzwischen Unternehmen angesiedelt, die Shuttle-Services anbieten, diese müssen jedoch extra gezahlt werden. So kostet die Busfahrt von Hahn zum Frankfurter Hauptbahnhof zwölf Euro pro Person und Strecke und dauert eine Stunde und 45 Minuten. Acht Euro kostet die Fahrt von Lübeck nach Hamburg, Dauer: eineinhalb Stunden. Eine 40-minütige Fahrt von Weeze zum Düsseldorfer Hauptbahnhof kostet elf Euro pro Person.
 
Southwest Airlines erhöht Gewinn im dritten Quartal

Die Southwest Airlines Co., die sechstgrößte Fluggesellschaft in den USA, meldete am Donnerstag, dass sie ihren Gewinn im dritten Quartal trotz deutlich gestiegener Treibstoffpreise erhöhen konnte.
Der Gewinn lag demnach bei 119 Mio. Dollar bzw. 15 Cents pro Aktie nach einem Überschuss von 106 Mio. Dollar bzw. 13 Cents pro Aktie im Vorjahr. Analysten hatten einen Gewinn von 12 Cents pro Aktie erwartet.

Der operative Umsatz erreichte im Berichtszeitraum 1,67 Mrd. Dollar gegenüber 1,55 Mrd. Dollar im Vorjahr. Analysten gingen im Vorfeld von einem Umsatz von 1,69 Mrd. Dollar aus.

Für das laufende vierte Quartal prognostizieren Analysten ein EPS-Ergebnis von 10 Cents bei 1,68 Mrd. Dollar Umsatz.
