In Riem gabs - trotz sehr guter Flugsicherung!

RP budget airline offering seats for 2 US cents on domestic flights (12:00 p.m.)

MANILA -- A Philippine low-budget carrier, Cebu Pacific, is offering seats on domestic flights for one peso (US$0.02; euro0.01) in a bid to boost sales, the company said Thursday.

More than 50,000 seats went on sale Wednesday until Sunday on a first-come, first-served basis, excluding taxes and surcharges, the company, the Philippines second largest airline, said in a statement.

"It's about making flying more affordable to more people and now we're giving out our seats practically for free, almost anyone can fly," General Manager Bong Mojica said in the statement.

Mojica said one part of the promotion was to encourage customers to think ahead to book reservations. "We want Filipinos to realize that the earlier they book their tickets, the less they really end up paying for them," he said.

The tickets can be used between June 20 and October 18. The airline, owned by conglomerate JG Summit Holdings Inc., recently acquired 12 new Airbus A319s.

Ryanair's Passenger Traffic Up 17 Percent

Ryanair's Passenger Traffic Up 17 Percent

Ryanair said on Wednesday it carried 3 million passengers in March, up from 2.6 million in the same period last year.

Dublin-based Ryanair said its load factor was 79 percent in the month, down from 80 percent a year earlier.

It carried 34.8 million passengers for the year to March 31, just under its target of 35 million. It expects to carry 42 million passengers in the current fiscal year.

Ryanair said in December it had trimmed some flights in January to March due to the late delivery of new aircraft from Boeing.

Ryanair said last week it expected fuel to make up 38 percent of its costs this year but higher average fares and a 20 percent rise in passengers would provide some relief from soaring oil prices.

Ryanair also said Wednesday it was launching 11 new routes from its base at Liverpool in Britain.

FL Sells EasyJet Stake

FL Sells EasyJet Stake
April 5, 2006
Icelandic investment group FL said it made a EUR140 million (USD$171.8 million) profit from the sale of its 16.9 percent stake in easyJet and that the sale was mainly due to other investment opportunities.

"FL Group first invested in easyJet just under two years ago and the investment has proved to be a great success which has provided a foundation on which we have built FL Group," FL Chief Executive Hannes Smarason said in a statement on Wednesday.

FL said that following the sale and its recent bond issue it has liquid assets of EUR600 million (USD$736.3 million), giving it considerable investment capacity, and that its own financial position remained very strong.

"Realising profit from the investment was appropriate for the FL Group at this time. We are working on several interesting investment projects and the sale gives us the opportunity to look at more projects and of greater scale," Smarason said.

The group said concerns over the Icelandic economy did not take fully into account the assets that have been acquired by Icelanders abroad.

FL Group said it remained committed to its investments in Icelandair, and in Finnair in which it has a 10 percent stake.

Norwegian invests in Polish market

Norwegian is setting up a base in Warsaw and starting flights to five European cities. “The European labour market is developing rapidly. More and more people are moving between different job markets, and the Polish market is of great interest in this respect. Our flights between Norway and Poland have achieved an excellent response in next to no time and shown positive development. Now we will be contributing to development elsewhere in Europe, especially from our base in Poland,” says CEO Bjørn Kjos.

To begin with, two planes will be based in Warsaw to fly the following routes:

Warsaw-Alicante – Monday-Wednesday-Friday
Warsaw-Barcelona/Girona – Monday-Wednesday-Friday
Warsaw-Malaga – Tuesday-Thursday- Saturday-Sunday
Warsaw-Nice – Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-Sunday
Warsaw-Oslo – Daily departures

“Norwegian is already highly competitive in relation to cost levels and other budget players. Setting up shop in Poland will reduce our costs further,” says Kjos

Norwegian has been looking for Polish pilots and cabin staff, and the response has been enormous. “The employees who will be based in Warsaw are well-qualified pilots and cabin staff, but they will also receive training specific to Norwegian’s fleet of planes and the rules and regulations that apply to Norwegian and international aviation,” says Kjos.

The new routes from Poland are intended to meet the need for budget flights on this market. Prices start from NOK 342 (170 zloty) one way including taxes and charges, and tickets go on sale from Friday, 7 April.

Jet2, the North’s low cost airline, launched new flights to Rome and Milan and the service to Venice gets underway after the winter break. The airline, which now offers UK residents four city destinations to fly to in Italy, will wave goodbye to its first passengers from both Leeds Bradford and Manchester Airports to Rome and from Leeds Bradford to Venice, Rome and Milan.

Pisa (Florence) will also join the growing list of Italian destinations, with its inaugural service leaving from Manchester and Newcastle International on the 25th May and from Leeds Bradford, Belfast International and Edinburgh Airport on the 27th.

Philip Meeson, Boss of Jet2, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be launching so many new services to Italy this week, offering more people the chance to explore this beautiful country, which is steeped in culture, history and art. We also extend our warmest welcome to all our passengers from Manchester to Rome, who had been left bereft of a direct service to the ‘Eternal City’ since BA axed the route last November. We’re very happy to come to your rescue.”

“All four of our Italian destinations make excellent destinations, with Venice world-famous as the crumbling yet beguiling maze of canals, Rome the epicentre of Western European history, Milan the fashion, shopping and design capital of Italy and Pisa the gateway to the beautiful Tuscan countryside and nearby Florence.”

Philip concluded: “We look forward to continuing to expand our range of Italian and European destinations in the future and offering more people the chance to explore fabulous European destinations at low cost prices.”

Jetstar to offer budget Sydney-Osaka flights

The Yomiuri Shimbun
Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd., an Australian budget airline, announced Tuesday it would offer flights between Sydney and Kansai Airport via Brisbane next spring.
According to a Jetstar spokesman, the company decided to enter the Japanese aviation market as Japan Airlines is expected to withdraw from the route.
Jetstar will be the first overseas budget carrier to service Japan, according to the Kansai International Airport Co.
The Jetstar spokesman said that from March the company would offer seven flights a week, using the 303-seat Airbus A330-200. Although fares have not been set, the company plans to keep costs down by charging for in-flight meals in economy class and other measures.

Jetstar to offer budget Sydney-Osaka flights

Zur Ergänzung:

Yep no surprises in that lot. The A330-200's will fly.

Sydney to

Honolulu (2xweekly)
Bali (2xweekly)
Phuket (2xweekly)
Ho Chi Minh City (2xweekly)
Osaka (daily)

Melbourne to

Honolulu (2xweekly)
Bali (2xweekly)
Bangkok (2xweekly)

Brisbane to

Osaka (Daily)

So that means all continuing services from Cairns will be on Qantas mainline aircraft.

;) Also ein kleines Angebot. Würde alle Paxe nach Australien düsen, würde vielleicht 3/7 geflogen.
