» Air Europa goes Airbus on longrange «
It seems that the inevitable thing has not been able to avoid with Air Europa and a precontract with Airbus has been signed to operate a A330-200 from February and another one from May. To be able to compete in equality of conditions to the Caribbean with other Spanish competitors and to allow for new non-stop services to China Boeing had offered 777s for the price of 767s but Air Europa feared of high landingfees and additional capacity. In addition, due to the size of the 777 engines, Boeing did not commit to have a new engine in place within 24 hours. As well the 7E7 is still quite distant. So Air Europa decided already by an MoU for ten A350s using in the interim leased A330-200s with all A350s to be in service by 2009.

Airbus Delivers 1000th Aircraft in North America

Airbus and Northwest Airlines joined together Friday to celebrate the delivery of the 1000th Airbus aircraft in North American service - an A330-200 for Northwest.

The aircraft is the sixth A330-200 for Northwest, which also flies eight A330-300s and 148 A320 family aircraft - the largest fleet of Airbus aircraft in North America. With an additional order backlog of 23 Airbus aircraft, Northwest stands among Airbus' the top three airline customers worldwide.

Northwest's history with Airbus began in 1989 when the airline was the first North American operator of the A320 - just one year after the aircraft type entered service. Northwest also is the first U.S. carrier to operate the A330-200.

Airbus' first North American customer was Eastern Airlines in 1977. Other North American customers include Air Canada, America West, FedEx, Frontier Airlines, GECAS, Independence Air, JetBlue, Northwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, United Parcel Service and US Airways.

15:57 04Nov2004 RTRS-Air Berlin wechselt zu Airbus - Auftrag für 70 neue Flugzeuge

Frankfurt, 04.

Air Atlanta Iceland has added an ex-Air France B747-200F.

Air Baltic is reportedly considering replacing its ARJ-70s and Fokker 50s by Dash 8-400s.

American Airlines to postpone delivery of Boeing planes
American Airlines will defer delivery of all but two Boeing Co. aircraft scheduled for deliver between 2006 and 2010 in order to defer billions in spending, it said Monday.

Fort Worth, Texas-based American said it would defer delivery of 47 Boeing 737-800 aircraft by seven years and seven Boeing 777 aircraft by six years beyond originally scheduled delivery dates. The move will allow the airline to push back more than $4 billion in spending on the planes.

The airline will still take two Boeing 777 aircraft in 2006 to support its international growth plans.

Boeing said the company had already factored in the delays in its financial guidance.

American's active fleet of 730 aircraft has more than 700 Boeing and McDonnell Douglas planes. The airline is the operating arm of AMR Corp. (NYSE: AMR).

Chicago-based Boeing Co.'s (NYSE: BA) Integrated Defense Systems unit, its largest subsidiary, is based in St. Louis and is the area's second-largest employer. Its commercial aircraft unit is based in Seattle.
