Air Caraibes signs for two A330-300s
Air Caraïbes today signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Airbus for the purchase of two A330-300s. Following the success of Air Caraïbes on its transatlantic routes, the airline has decided
to replace its current A330-200s by the larger capacity A330-300s. These aircraft will be delivered in November 2007 and June 2008.
The new A330-300s will be fitted with 372 seats in a comfortable two-class lay-out providing an additional capacity of 48 seats and featuring the latest standards in In-flight entertainment in all cabins. The engine choice has not yet been defined.
Air Caraïbes serves inter-Caribbean routes between 13 islands, as well as Belem in Brazil. Since end 2003 Air Caraïbes also operates transatlantic routes to Paris from Pointe-à-Pitre and Fort-de-France.
President of Air Caraïbes, Jean-Paul Dubreuil declared : “Since the entry into service of the A330-200s on our transatlantic routes to Paris, we have seen a constant increase in our traffic. The larger A330-300 is the perfect answer to our needs in terms of capacity, economics whilst offering the highest standards of comfort to our passengers.”

TAM BECOMES A350 LAUNCH CUSTOMER FOR LATIN AMERICA
Brazilian airline TAM signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)n for the purchase of eight A350-900s plus seven options becoming the launch customer of the type in Latin America. TAM also signed a firm purchase agreement for 20 additional A320 Family aircraft plus 20 options. The total value of the order comes to 2.6 billion US dollars.
Speaking to the press, John Leahy, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer, welcomed TAM management who flew from Brazil overnight for the conference. “TAM has become our largest customer in Latin America, with a fleet that will total 100 Airbus aircraft with this latest order,” he said.
TAM who will receive its first additional single-aisle Airbus aircraft in 2007 and the A350-900s from 2012, plans to use them to expand its existing routes and to fly to new destinations. Currently, the airline flies domestic routes as well as to Paris, Miami and will soon add New York to its destinations.
“With this order, Airbus now has 125 firm orders for the new A350, and has announced twice the number of orders that our competitor booked at the air show so far,” concluded John Leahy.

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) Airbus today set at rest reports that its deal with Indian Airlines for supply of 43 aircraft is being re-examined on demands of price reduction, saying the agreement is on track and will be finalised over the next few days.
''There were rumours about aggressive pricing. We responded two weeks ago and clarified by saying that Indian Airlines cannot be compared with any other airlines... There is no room for further price negotiations,'' Airbus Vice President (Sales) Nigel Harwood told reporters here.
''They are satisfied with our response and we hope that confirmation of orders will be made in a few days,'' he said.
The deal, valued at over two billion dollars, involves supply of 43 aircraft including A-319s, A-320s and A-321s.
A section in the government was of the view that the state-owned carrier's deal with Airbus must be re-examined for possibilities of a further price cut.
The Finance Ministry had asked the Civil Aviation Ministry to certify that the Airbus offer to Indian Airlines is the best that any airline has received.

ISTANBUL - Turkish Airlines has ordered eight Boeing-737-800 passenger planes in a new order in addition to its previous deal to buy 15 planes, the company said in a statement Friday. THY, which agreed to buy 15 B-737-800 from Boeing in 2004, placed the new order after securing funding for the payment.
