Ryanair said it "may" decide to close its Valencia base Friday over a dispute with the regional government, which the LCC claimed "has opted to support other airlines who have not provided a fraction of the growth which Ryanair has to the airport" and has failed to reply to its "proposal on how to ensure the continued growth" at VLC. It set Friday as a deadline for that response. No further details were provided. Ryanair operates 22 international routes to/from VLC, "all of which are at risk."
Separately, the carrier said it has given 30 days notice to Expedia that it will cancel its hotel contract following the latter's "failure to honor payment terms."

Eh das kommt... Was aber schon bekannt ist, ist, dass Alghero, Cagliari und Bologna Ende März 2009 neue FR-Basen werden, von denen zahlreiche Domestic-Ziele angeflogen werden.

Zwar werde es eine "sehr billige Economy Class mit Tickets ab zehn Euro geben", bekräftigte er. 20 Prozent der Kabine werde aber eine gehobene, hochpreisige Premium Business Class einnehmen.

Genau! Und diese "Hochpreis-Premium-Business-Class-Pax" reisen dann in die Pampa, um mit "O`Leary" zu fliegen.

Sterling Airlines geht Konkurs und bleibt am Boden

Der in isländischem Besitz stehende LCC Sterling Airlines meldet heute Mittwoch Konkurs an.

Auf Grund der Sterling-Pleite wird Norwegian ab 6.11. 2 ihrer Maschinen in CPH stationieren und im nächsten Jahr sollen es 8-10 werden.

Auch EZY wird auf Grund dessen einmal täglich ab Januar von LGW nach CPH (mit voraussichtlicher Erhöhung im Sommer) fliegen, obwohl sie schon 3x daily STN-CPH anbieten.

Ryanair hat Trapani ab Mai als neue Base erkoren - die schon verkündete Base in Forli kommt jedoch nicht.
 
Ryanair will open its Edinburgh base today with new service to Berlin Schonefeld, Billund, Bournemouth, Bratislava, Lodz, Malaga, Poznan, Stockholm Skavsta and Wroclaw. Flights to Krakow and Palma begin next month.
