Emirates delays delivery of 20 Airbus jets
DUBAI: The Dubai flagship airline carrier Emirates said yesterday it was delaying until a further notice the delivery of 20 Airbus A340-600s because it was waiting for a modified and more economical version. “We are looking to defer the delivery of these orders until the manufacturer comes back with a clearer plans about an enhanced version of the aircraft,” an Emirates official said on condition of anonymity. But “Emirates order for the A340-600s still stands,” the official added. The order was put in 2003 at the value of $4.2bn and the first of the jets was expected to be delivered in 2007

US Airways hat die Bestellung über die noch nicht abgelieferten 57 Embraer 170 abgeändert. Stattdessen wurde jetzt 25 Embraer 190 fest geordert. Eine weitere Bestellung über 32 zusätzliche 190er bedarf noch der Bestätigung durch US Airways. der Abänderungsvertrag beinhält zusätzlich 50 Optionen für weitere Flugzeuge des brasilianischen Herstellers.

SEATTLE, April 6, 2006 -- Spanish carrier Air Europa has converted purchase rights into orders for 16 Boeing [NYSE:BA] Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. The airplanes are valued at approximately $1 billion at list prices and will be delivered between 2010 and 2014. Air Europa will use these new airplanes on domestic routes within Spain, including the Balearic and Canary islands, as well as on European and North African routes.

Until now, El Al has had an all-Boeing fleet, but is on the verge of purchasing a number of Airbus A-350s and A-330s, TheMarker has learned.
A high level delegation of Airbus executives met yesterday with El Al's owners and senior officials, along with representatives of the Israel Aircraft Industries, at the offices of the Borovich-Moses Group (BMG).
A month ago, a less senior team from Airbus visited El Al in secret and presented management with a proposal to purchase the Airbus A-330s.
Yesterday's meeting was, for all practical purposes, the beginning of negotiations over the deal, and issues such as price, delivery schedules and credit were discussed.
The new planes are meant to replace El Al's old Boeing 767s.

MOSKAU, 13. April (RIA Novosti). Die Fluggesellschaft Sibir und das amerikanische Unternehmen GECAS haben ein Leasing von zehn Mittelstreckenflugzeugen des Typs A319 vereinbart, berichtet die Tageszeitung "Kommersant" am Donnerstag.
Die ersten Flugzeuge sollen im Juli eingesetzt werden. Jeden Monat werden zwei weitere Maschinen in Betrieb genommen. Ursprünglich wurden die Maschinen bei einer Auktion zu einem Startpreis von 23 Millionen pro Stück angeboten. Die anderen russischen Fluggesellschaften, die ebenfalls Flugzeuge dieses Typs einsetzen möchten, fanden diesen Preis aber zu hoch.
Ein Posten von zehn A319-Flugzeugen vom Baujahr 1999 hatten bisher der amerikanischen Fluggesellschaft Northwest Airlines gehört, die im Herbst vergangenen Jahres ein Konkursverfahren startete.
"Die A319 ist aufnahmefähiger als die Boeing 737-500, was für uns wichtig war", hieß es am Mittwoch in der Fluggesellschaft Sibir. "Das Geschäft soll noch vom Direktorenrat gebilligt werden." Die Billigung wurde nach Angaben der Zeitung um zwei Wochen verschoben, weil Vertreter des staatlichen Eigentümers, der ein Sperrpaket der Fluggesellschaft besitzt, ihre Stellungnahme dazu noch nicht formuliert haben.
Nach den Worten von Sergej Koltowitsch, Chef des Amtes für Planung und Entwicklung des Flugzeugparks der Gesellschaft Aeroflot, werden die monatlichen Leasingzahlungen für die sechs Jahre alten A319-Maschinen durchschnittlich bei 200 000 bis 250 000 Dollar betragen.
Beim Umfang der Personenbeförderung liegt Sibir auf Platz zwei unter den russischen Fluggesellschaften: 2005 waren es 4,2 Millionen Fluggäste. Das Unternehmen begann 2004 mit der Modernisierung ihres Maschinenparks: Damals wurde auf die unwirtschaftlichen Tu-154B-Maschinen verzichtet. Die ersten ausländischen Modelle waren A310-Maschinen. Im vergangenen Jahr nahm die Zahl dieser Flugzeuge zu, Außerdem nahm Sibir einen Posten von Boeing 373 in Leasing. Etihad Airways finalized a lease financing agreement with Oasis International Leasing of Abu Dhabi and Barclays Capital for six A330-200s. Terms of the deal were not announced. Aircraft are worth $948 million at list prices. The agreement follows a 2004 MOU signed by Etihad to acquire 24 Airbus aircraft including 12 dash 200s. The six aircraft, featuring a two-zone configuration with 262 seats, are scheduled for delivery starting later this month.

The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2008. The aircraft are the latest high gross weight versions, allowing higher payloads to be transported."

The order is a conversion of purchase options made with Boeing in 2003 and is worth $1.4 billion at pre-discount list prices.
AirTran — a successful no-frills airline headquartered in Orlando, Fla., with its main hub in Atlanta — has chalked up seven consecutive years of profitability. But because of rising fuel prices, it posted a loss of $4.6 million, its third consecutive quarterly loss, when it released first-quarter results Thursday.
AirTran currently operates 26 737s and 85 717s.

Singapore Airlines further delays choice between Airbus A350 and Boeing 787

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has again delayed its highly anticipated purchase of new widebody aircraft but plans to begin final negotiations with Airbus and Boeing in the next few weeks.
SIA chief executive Chew Choon Seng told analysts at its fourth quarter earnings conference yesterday that the carrier’s board “has given management a mandate to enter final negotiations with the manufacturers”. “What orders we place will depend very much on the response of the manufacturers to the negotiations,” Chew says.
SIA has been evaluating the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 and Chew told ATI in early April that a selection, initially expected early this year, could be approved at a 9 May board meeting. But Chew later in April suggested to reporters that Airbus should redesign the A350 and industry sources say Airbus subsequently asked SIA to hold off from making a selection at the 9 May meeting because details of a redesign are forthcoming.
SIA also has delayed a selection on new large capacity and ultra-long range aircraft. The Star Alliance carrier has been evaluating the Boeing 777-200LR as a possible replacement for its fleet of five Airbus A340-500s. It also has received proposals for Boeing 747-8s, which it is evaluating against proposals for more Airbus A380s.
SIA already has 10 A380s on order. It now may place simultaneous orders for up to three aircraft types as early as June.
An SIA spokesman says while the board did not approve any new aircraft order yesterday “we’re a step closer” to completing a review of new aircraft types which began at the middle of last year.
